We are fortunate enough to receive ongoing support from individuals in the form of volunteering time and skills, workplace giving, donations in kind, bequests, as well as monthly and once-off donations via EFT or Zapper.
Over the years we have had individuals raise money through sporting events like the Midmar Mile and the Comrades Marathon through Race4Charity. We are grateful to have many enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers manning watering tables at various running events throughout the year enabling us to show our appreciation to the running community for their ongoing support.
Individuals donate a small monthly amount of their salary in the form of Workplace Giving (SHARE), which helps us meet our grant commitments to the 105 NPO Impact Partners in our care. Workplace Giving once formed the backbone of Community Chest’s funding, with thousands of ordinary employees making an affordable contribution to social upliftment, via the payroll of the companies they work for. Approximately 30% of total income is derived from the SHARE programme and is greatly valued for its dedicated, ongoing commitment.
The annual Day of Caring sees individuals and groups pull up their sleeves and paint, clean, garden, maintain, and get stuck into jobs that our NPO Impact Partners desperately need to be done, but cannot necessarily complete due to budget constraints. It becomes a win-win situation for the individuals or corporate teams and the Impact Partner that greatly benefits from the volunteered time and skills.
A bequest to Community Chest will allow you to make a difference for generations to come. Your legacy of generosity and humanity will endure through our work with charitable organisations. You can specify a chosen field of service and Community Chest will ensure that your bequest makes a lasting difference to those you wish to support the most.
